We are now in Salalah where we have effectively stopped the Rally due to severely escalating piracy in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden.  Fellow rally yacht, Quest, was pirated on our trip from India to Oman and several days later all aboard were killed by the 19 pirates on board their yacht.  We also sadly heard that a Danish yacht, Ing has been pirated and taken to Somalia with a family of five plus two crew.   Our cruise from Australia through South East Asia, Sri Lanka and India immersed us in a diverse rannge of bustling and fast developing countries.  We now hope to ship our yacht through the Red Sea to Turkey and then continue our journey home from there.  After sailing over 20,000 miles it is sad that we are forced to abandon our plans here…..but we think it is now better to do this than risk turning our wonderful trip into a another horrible tragedy.
