Thank you from MISS TIPPY to all our friends and family for the many messages of support sent whilst we rested in Puerto Rico after Brians accident at sea.
Miss Tippy looking gorgeous after a special clean and polish.
Shiny Tippy
A really big THANK YOU must go to the boys from Mercury Rising.
We had shared some fun together in the British Virgin islands. Their wives had returned home and the boys on ‘Murky Reisling’ were enroute to San Blas sailing South only 50 miles ahead of us.
Even before the accident we were already in hourly SSB contact. Adrian offered to help however, the distance between us was too great. The boys stayed in close contact all night on the SSB radio with great advice and support for us. They got to San Blas through incredible seas and were on standby to fly to Puerto Rico to sail our boat for us.
Luckily we didn’t need the extra crew but on our arrival in San Blas found the boys had shaved their heads is support of Brian!

Puerto Rico was a great safe haven for us after our incident at sea.
Thank you to everyone at Ponce Yacht and Fishing Club who made us very welcome.

We have many people to be thankful to for assistance and support given following our accident at sea.
Brian Sheila paperwork
The US coast guards who stayed alongside us at sea and especially Jayson in the office who guided us all night on the satellite phone and VHF.
The Ponce police who showed us into the harbour and came alongside a couple of days later just to check our progress.

U.S. customs officers went out of their way to be helpful when we entered the country illegally!
Customs
For security reasons we could not photograph the officers. They checked out Miss Tippy and took away our passports for admin. saving us a lot of travelling and waiting time in the customs office. When we had to attend the office, customs gave us premium service and a boat visa for a year!
With special thanks to Miss Desiree who returned our documents back to the boat personally.

Jim,Heather and Savannah invited the children to sail in the Ponce Club Optimists we all had lot of fun!

  • So glad to hear everyone is safe and you’re on your way. Although we’ve never met, we feel like we know you and it’s been a joy for our family to follow your journey. We were especially inspired to see how all the kids (and mum) rose to challenge during Brian’s accident. What a great way to pull together as a family!

    All the best,
