Atlantic departure.
November 2009 Puerto Calero Marina, Lanzarote.
We awoke excited to leave for the Atlantic crossing.Miss Tippy was looking gorgeous all teak washed and all chrome shiny and flags flying and everything ship shape.
We had a hearty cooked breakfast in a café while the children ran around the marina for the last time on land for about three weeks.

Fredster ready to go !!
The bikes and dinghy were stowed, the galley, full to the gunnels ,water and fuel tanks filled. The horns and hooters were sounding for Miss Tippy it was finally time to go!

Edy…..Lovely chief horn blower from Yacht Chsalonina.

Spanish friends Jaime and Carmen
Swedish friends Hans and Monika
After years of dreaming about this we couldn’t quite believe we were ready to set sail with our 3 children to cross our first big ocean.

There were many well wishers to wave us off and new friends to say farewell to,especially fellow Blue Water Rally Sailing family David and Joanna, Eddie (6)and little Sozzie(4).

Tilo from my old home town Rinteln Germany

Bye Amy !
There were lots of encouraging messages on the VHF radio and with shouts of joy and promises to meet some of these new friends at the other side of the Atlantic,we were off into the first sunset.
