Annie Bakes Bread aboard!

Submitted by on 2009/09/08 – 08:38One Comment

Baking bread is fun! I have to sit on the galley floor with mum’s big apron on. When It gets tippy I roll from side to side then feel a bit sick. But now I have my sea legs I could cook as long as I want. My role is the hygienist I’m a bit like a house wife because I’ll cook and clean a lot when Dad is sailing and cannot take his shift to do the heads and cabins .

Recipe.
Ikg plain flour
Handful of yeast (called levanduria in Portuguese)
2 spoons of sugar
2 spoons of salt
1 pint of WARM water

Mix it all together then knead it very hard for 5 minutes.
Let it rise in the sun for an hour whilst you have a swim and sun bathe.
By the time’s gone your bread will have risen and you can make it into shapes but don’t fiddle with the bread too much. Let the shapes rise again so they get big.
Put it in the hot oven and have a quick play.
Then eat warm with lots of jam, and make some more when it runs out.
